Tennessee Congressional Candidate and Generational Farmer Pledges to Fight Landgrabs and Defend Family Farms

[Riddleton, TN] — Sixth District Congressional candidate, 27 - year Marine Veteran raised on a rural farm in Tennessee carrying those family values with him in service to our nation, and now for service as your Congressman, Jon Henry announced a bold campaign promise today. His promise is aimed at protecting Tennessee farmland, rolling back harmful regulations on farmers, and preserving access to natural food. As a multi-generational farmer with deep roots in rural Tennessee, Henry is positioning this campaign as a direct challenge to the unchecked influence of land developers and special foreign interests that have eroded the state’s agricultural foundation.

“I’ve lived this struggle firsthand, and therefore know the struggles our farmers are facing,” Henry said. “Our land is being bought up by developers and foreign interest, thus we must protect our land with leaders who care deeply about our communities, our crops, or our culture. Family farmers are being burdened with unncessary red tape while corporate interests pave over the fields we’ve farmed for generations. I am committed and dedicated to overcoming, and putting an end to this struggle when I get to Congress.”

Henry is pledging to prioritize legislation that protects Tennessee’s farmland from corporate overreach, lifts burdensome federal regulations that disproportionately impact small and mid-sized farmers, and restores the balance of power back to rural communities.

The campaign’s centerpiece is a statewide educational awareness platform designed to inform Tennesseans about the growing crisis:

  • The rapid loss of farmland to developers

  • The regulatory stranglehold on family farms

  • The importance of preserving access to local, natural food

  • Increasing concentration and takeover of agricultural corporations that press farmers by the price of their inputs and depress the prices farmers receive

Drawing on the words of Robert F. Kennedy, who once said, “We must support the farmer. We must have natural food for our families to eat,” Henry emphasized that this is not just an agricultural issue — it’s a food security issue and a public health issue.

“If we lose our farms, we lose the ability to feed ourselves,” Henry said. “This is a crisis, not just for rural Tennesseans, but for everyone who wants clean, local, natural food on their table.”

Key Points of Henry’s Platform:

  • Protect Tennessee Farmland from predatory landgrabs and overdevelopment

  • Roll Back Harmful Regulations on small and generational farmers

  • Support Local, Sustainable Agriculture and ensure access to natural food

  • Launch a Public Awareness Campaign to mobilize citizens in defense of local farms and combat market concentrations that disempower them

With firsthand experience in farming, Henry says they will bring a grounded, no-nonsense perspective to Washington. "Join me in this fight to protect our farms and and our future," remarked Henry.

“We don’t need more politicians who’ve never stepped foot on a farm. We need leaders who understand the land, who’ve worked it, and who will fight for the people who feed this country.”

The campaign invites Tennesseans of all backgrounds — rural and urban alike — to join this movement to preserve Tennessee’s farming legacy and secure a future built on local food, clean land, and strong communities.
